Fremont's Tri-City Neighbor

Newark sits at the northwest border of Fremont, part of what locals call the Tri-City area alongside Fremont and Union City. With a population of about 47,000, it's a compact city with a distinctly suburban character — predominantly mid-century single-family homes built in the 1960s–1980s, with newer condo and townhome communities developed since.

The city's most significant geographic advantage is the Dumbarton Bridge. At the eastern end of the bridge, Newark gives Peninsula commuters direct access to Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Meta, and Redwood City without the Fremont detour.
